My name is Brandon Overstreet. I'm currently an engineering student at the University of Colorado @ Boulder. I've been working as a structural engineering intern for the past three years and have come to the hard realization that this field is not the place for me. I discovered homebrewing at the beginning of my college career and fell deeply in love w/ the craft from the very beginning. The hobby has become much more than a hobby for me and seems more like an obsession. In fact, it has somewhat ruined my life. It is all that I think about, read about, or talk about. I'm sure you could see where this may be a bit detrimental to an engineering career. There is no question in my mind that the brewing industry is where I belong.
I am seeking an entry level position at a local brewery with the opportunity to advance into brewing duties. I have a very strong grasp of the brewing process and I am familiar with professional equipment and techniques. I am also very handy with mechanical equipment and feel my engineering background would be an asset to have around the brewery for emergency patch-up repairs and trouble shooting. I am very willing to start at the bottom of the brewers chain. I will not even give a second thought to scrubbing walls, kegs, or floors, and actually have enjoyed raking out the few mash tuns that I've had the chance to get my head inside. I am very eager to learn every aspect of a professional operation, pub or packaging, and hope to hear from you soon. I will be available for full-time work beginning May 12, 2008, and may begin sooner if our schedules work out together.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Cheers,
Brandon Overstreet
