Assistant Brewer needed at Great Adirondack Brewing Co. in Lake Placid, NY. We are a small but busy restaurant and brewery in the heart of Lake Placid. We feature a 7bbl JV Northwest brewhouse which produced 400 bbl in 2007, and expect about 15% growth this year. Of that 400 bbl, about a third will be sold in the summer season.

This position will be for an Assistant Brewer and will work both independantly and side-by-side with the Head Brewer. Job duties will depend on experience and/or education of the applicant, but will include cleaning and sanitizing of all brewery equipment, keg washing, beer line maintenance, and deliveries to area accounts. The position will grow to include filtration and brewing as the summer progresses. Basically, you will eventually become well versed in all tasks related to running a small brewery. The position will be guaranteed full-time through Columbus day. In the past this was strictly a seasonal position, however there's a strong possibility that the position may become year-round as sales continue to grow.

Lake Placid is a busy tourist town in the heart of the Adirondack Mt.'s of Northeastern New York State. There are ample outdoor activities to partake in including hiking, biking, golf, boating etc..., and the area usually has a large 20s-30s population in the summer time.

Applicants need to be flexible, have a strong work ethic, learn quickly, and have a passion for creating award-winning beer. Brewing education and/or experience are helpful, but not an absolute requirement. My two previous summer assistants have since continued in the industry and are now running other brewing operations. You will definitely get a hands-on education working in this brewery. Pay will depend on experience. The position is available now.

Please direct resume and cover letters to Head Brewer Hutch Kugeman via adkbrew@capital.net, fax to 518-523-2821, or phone 518-523-0233. I will be in San Diego for the CBC if anyone would like to meet with me call my cell 518-265-9281.
