cracked my hot liqour tank's glass sight tube on my newlands brewhouse.

looking for an alternative......any suggestions?

took some measurements looks like .625"OD (15.82mm?), .43 ID

an older post recommended clear polycarbonate tubing.

I have clear polycarbonate on all my tanks, and it works well for the most part. Only issue with a hot liquor tank is that the heat begins to cloud the tubing over time.

Cheers,
Joe

McMaster-Carr to the rescue again! They have 5/8" OD boiler tube/sight glass in clear and red line background in many lengths. Lookie here:
3729K33 5/8" OD Clear Tubular Gauge Glass W/Red Line 48" Length, 3/32" Wall Thickness: $50.43
Suggest using this with an open top to be able to brush the glass tube clean with mild acid. I use this inside a 1 1/2" SS tube cut with a wide longitudinal slot down its length as a shroud to keep it from being smacked. Polycarbonate doesn't work as well, IMHO. Good luck!

Sight glass for boilers works great. Call some local boiler mechanics and ask where to get it.
