Happy new year to you all!
I am just about to finalize a visit to the CBC conference in Seattle
in April. We will be in town a few days early and i`ve been
told Vancouver shouldn`t be missed. Does anyone have some
places to recommend for some sampling. I`ve also been told
that there are some breweries/brewpubs worth visiting
between Seattle and Vancouver. See you in Seattle.
Cheers

Granville Island Brewing company is worth a visit, you can arrange a tour with the brewmaster if he's not too busy.
Steamworks in the Gastown area is great too.

Enjoy !

Forgot to mention Spinnakers Brewpub in Victoria, if you are in the area you should check it out...If i'm not mistaken it was Canada's 1st Brewpub ?

Cheers!

Jorgen,

I used to live in Vancouver but moved to the U.K. to study and work in
the british brewing scene.

Hey,
I am serving your beers at my bar as we speak! Small world ey!
Big fan of Hophead, right now we got Meltdown and Solstice.
Hop Head and Harviestouns brews are the best hoppy beers in the UK!
Mega taste with an session abv!
Cool.

I'll have to visit your bar where is it ?
You should come down to the evening star in Brighton.

Your not to far away but wait until summer, it`s minus 10 c and snow everywhere, thank god for beer!
I´ll probably visit the GABF in august and get down to Brighton.
In May we have served 1500 different cask ales from all over the UK, mad!
Do you keg any beers? I normally stick to Harviestouns beers for
June-July-end of august, Ken`s addiction to hops keeps the quality
during the warm summer. I could really see me having a pint of
kegged Hop Head at 6% all summer long!

We have 2 kegged beers at the moment: Natural Blonde (organic lager 4.5%) and Espresso Stout(4.2%). Most of our sales is Cask.
Let me know if you have any other questions.I'll send you my email address. I definetly will have to come down to Stockholm this summer, what's the swedish beer scene like ?

It`s getting there but high taxes is a killer. Aprox 5-10 good brewerys,
3 great ones. Ourselves and sisterpub Akkurat are the only ones doing
cask ale on a regular basis, we import a lot ourselves from UK, Belgium and
the US. Check out Beer World Sweden, use that as a search name, thats
a good site, despite the name only in Swedish! but you can browse around.
Stockholm has some great bars but there`s us and a handful others that
can claim the fame for the beer culture. Summer is of course great to go here, otherwise at the end of September when the Stockholm Beer Festival is on, this year the 15th festival. For the past 3 years i have displayed US craftbeers, this year again and with any luck a UK booth and a Canadian booth, i am doing the planning now. If you have connection with some canadian brewerys that would be great. The trick is the logistics though, i need a pick up point on the east-coast, saves a lot of time.
Let`s keep in touch!

While in Vancouver check out Yaletown Brewing as it's worth a visit and in a great part of the city. Enjoy!!

I would suggest R&B Brewing (604) 874-2537
email: ales@r-and-b.com
54 East 4th Ave. - call before you go, it's a brewery not a pub.
Also Storm Brewing (call first) 604-255-9119 at Commercial Drive and Hastings.
I would also second Steamworks brewpub, Yaletown and Dix Barbecue and Brewery.

If you're looking for a good lineup of local brews, the very best place is the Raven pub in Deep Cove, north Van. It's a bit of a drive, but worth it! Second best: Waazubee Cafe on Commercial Drive near 1st. Has several of the locals.

Another good brewpub to visit is Central City Brewing at 102 Avenue and 135 Street, Surrey, B. C. centralcitybrewing.com
