We have a range of casks, some of aluminium and some of stainless steel. A problm we are having is that some of our casks are leaking after the shives have been put in. We have tried a variety of shive sizes and the type that is the best fit for both cask types still leaks occasionally on the aluminium casks. Is there a product we can use to seal up the outer edge of the shives when necessary. I've been to the suppliers with this problem but al they're interested in is pushing another type of shive on us....any help would be greatly appreciated

Don't know if there is a product out there that can prevent shives from coming out........
Have you tried wooden ones ?

We have a problem with both keystones and shives popping out but only during the summer months. Our solution was wooden keystones and we started using plastic shives that have a green band on the inside which is supposed to seal em in better. And not letting the casks get warm also.( After racking we chuck 'em in the cold store right away).

Hope this helps...I think your supplier is on the right track try using different ones t'ill you find something that works!!!
