When is the best time to add dextrose to the kettle? Does it matter? i am currently adding at the beginning of the boil for a lighter ale, would it be better to wait till 20 mins tol the end or not? I add all the hops at 20 min till the end to maximize flavor on a very low IBU beer, so i dont know if it affects utilization since the sugar will be in no matter what.

I wouldn't think it would matter too much, depending on the percentage of total sugars the dextrose made up. If it was > 20%, my thought would be to add it earlier in the process, so your IBU calc wouldn't be thrown off. I could be wrong. I often am!

I have found that adding the dextrose at the last minute or so have been working for me. I toss it in, let it get a healthy roll in the boil, and then kill the heat and wait to bump to the whirlpool. I only use dextrose on my Double IPA.
