If one was to choose a State for a new facility, whether it is a Microbrewery, distillery, or brewpub what is the best State in the Union to choose to do business. Take into account facility licencing, government cooperation, corporate taxes, sales tax requirement on the purchase of new equipment, and the ease of self distribution. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am hard pressed to consider Wisconsin as a favorable state for a new brewery or brewpub. With high taxes, and the new Governor's proposal for 16% payroll tax for universal health care and the pending legislation restricting self distribution, I would not consider Wisconsin the front runner for a new business venture. I appreciate your suggestion for Wisconsin, but you will have to defend your recommendation. Thanks.

I agree, "If Wisconsin is Tax Hell, Gov. Doyle is the Devil." But the only way to change these laws is to vote that way.

We have a good, effecyive Brewers Guild that has been very sucessful in pointing the laws to craft beer freindly. Wisconsin is historically “Beer Friendly” compared to other state Beer Laws. You, as a concerned citizen, brewer?, or business owner? should be diligent in making sure that your state is not crushed by these proposed tax laws. Only you can make the difference, complaining does nothing, action gets it done. Voice you opinion to your local repersentive.
