I have been starting to hear the phrase "garage brewing" popping up in more conversations. From what I understand, "garage brewing" is basically brewing commercial beer out of your house and then distributing it from there. In PA, I believe there is a law stating that your brewery must not be attached to your residence. I currently live in PA and would love to do something like this in order to get started, but I have been unable to find resources concerning this topic. Can anyone point me in the right direction? If PA does not allow this, does DE or MD?
Cheers!

There is a federal regulation on the subject. 27 CFR Sec. 25.21 says "A brewery may not be established or operated in any dwelling house..."

garage brewing is homebrewing out of your garage. I did this for years, some folks garage brewery's are pretty elaborate(sp?) Just like any hobby you can always go to the extreme depending on how much cash you want to spend!!

I have a tobacco barn on my residental property that is going to house my microbrewery. I live in PA and have received my state brewers license and the federal brewers notice. The first thing that you should check out is the zoning on your property. I was zoned residental, but was permitted to have it changed to commercial by my township zoning board. Hope that this helps!

Cheers,
Matt
