Attention Filtration fans:
Okay, I have been having sporadic success with my new 40x40 plate and frame. While the clarity of the filtered products have been brilliant, the filter times have still been stretching into 5-6 hours for 10bbls.
I remembered a suggestion from some ProBrewer filtering Genius (whom I can't remember) to equalize the FV-pump-filter-SV system with a hose connect the CIP arms of the two tanks. I did this with the pressure around 10-12psi throughout the system. I began the filter and held my breath. This filter took six minutes and thirty seconds! CLEAR PRODUCT!!! I was using K300s. This tank of amber was transferred off the yeast two days prior and kept cold. Okay, now I was feeling cocky. So I then loaded new pads and repeated the procedure on a tank of Oktoberfest still on the yeast but kept cold for three days. The filtration session required one back-flush and kept going and going and going, stretching into 38 whole minutes!
Who ever gave me the suggestion to pressure-balance the system, GOD BLESS YOU!!!! :D
