News Second Largest Beer Festival in Pacific Northwest is Cancelled

Two down. A year after the Oregon Beer Festival (OBF) was discontinued, it has been announced that the Bend Brewfest, previously the second largest beer festival in the Pacific Northwest has been canceled for 2024.

The event was planned to be held Oct. 4-5 at the Hayden Homes Amphitheater on the Deschutes River just south of downtown. The organizers cited too many “hurdles” as the reason for cancelling.

Beer festivals, which were mostly cancelled during the pandemic, have continued to decline since. With increased costs and declining attendance, more and more organizations have discontinued or cancelled annual beer festivals, most of which will not likely return. It has been a hard hit for state brewers’ guilds, many of which used beer festivals not only to promote the state’s brewing industry by also as an important annual fundraiser.

The Bend Beerfest has raised in the neighborhood of $150,000 to benefit local charities.
