In today’s challenging beer market, brewers must hone their skills in all areas to stay competitive, including in sales and marketing. The University of California at Davis Continuing and Professional Services department has announced a new online, remote-learning course on digital marketing specifically for craft brewers.
Some of the learning objectives include crafting a comprehensive digital marketing plan, formulating an effective marketing budget, implementing social media strategies, how to evaluate performance metrics and staying up to date on digital marketing trends.
“In today’s competitive craft brewing landscape, mastering digital marketing is indispensable for success,” the course website states. “This course will empower participants to develop and execute robust digital marketing strategies that elevate their craft brewery’s online presence, drive customer engagement and fuel business growth in the dynamic and evolving digital landscape.”
The course consists of content and curriculum that is taught with pre-recorded lectures, in addition to weekly live “office hour” sessions with the instructors. Pre-recorded lectures and live sessions are accessed via our Canvas learning system and Zoom. The course is “paced asynchronous,” which means that all students will be proceeding through the course at the same time. Live office hour sessions are set at the discretion of the instructor, the time is subject to change during the course depending on instructor availability. Recordings will be made available for students who cannot make the live session.
The eight course takes place from March 3 to April 27, 2025.
Course instructors are Emily Hutto, a journalist, marketing professional, and public speaker who specializes in the craft beverage supply chain and Julie Rhodes, an expert in off-site beverage sales, digital marketing, leadership, team management and distributor partnership management.
