News The Michael Jackson Foundation Announces New Scholarship Recipients and Annual Matching Funding Drive
The Michael James Jackson Foundation for Brewing & Distilling (The MJF) today announced the latest winners of its scholarship awards, as well as its third annual matching funding challenge. Beginning today, The MJF will launch its 2024 matching challenge to match the first $100,000 in donations made through April 23rd, the start of the Craft Brewer Conference in Las Vegas.

News Industry Celebrates National Black Brewers Day – Interview with Alana Koenig-Busy of NB2A
Less than 1% of craft breweries in the U.S. are owned by African Americans. The National Black Brewers Association (NB2A) was recently formed as a membership-based non-profit organization to help African American brewers and brewery owners with their specific needs and issues. Today we celebrate the first National Black Brewers Day, the day in 1970 that Peoples Brewing Company became the first Black-owned brewery in U.S. history. NB2A Program Manager Alana Koenig-Busey discusses with ProBrewer co-founder Mark Silva the details of this monumental day and more about the mission of NB2A.

News MJF Announces Seven New Scholarship Recipients

News Application Deadline for Michael Jackson Foundation Scholarship is Friday June 23
Michael James Jackson Foundation, which funds technical education and career advancement for black, indigenous, and people of color in the brewing and distilling industries is now accepting applications for the Spring 2023 enrollment period. The application deadline is this Friday, June 23rd at 9:00 pm EDT.

Expert Topic Four Takeaways from the 2023 Craft Brewers Conference
Bursting at its tasseled seams, downtown Nashville experienced one of the busiest weeks that locals could remember. With Taylor Swift playing several sold out shows in her adopted hometown, along with events ranging from a Janet Jackson concert to several local graduations, the capital city welcomed the 2023 Craft Brewers Conference and its nearly 12,000 attendees, 600 exhibitors, and more than 170 speakers. News Breweries Pull Out of Mikkeller Beer Festival in Response to Sexual Harassment Allegations
At least nine breweries have announced they will not attend the upcoming Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen (MBCC) festival later this month in response to accounts of sexual harassment, discrimination, and bullying that several former Mikkeller employees allege occurred at the company, according to a story in Good Beer Hunting.

News BA Survey Shows Lack of Diversity in Brewery Ownership
The Brewers Association recently completed an updated demographic audit of brewery owners based on a survey of 500 randomly selected breweries selected by the BA. The results showed that brewery owners are 93.5% white and 23.7% of brewery owners were female, while 75.6% were male.
